Bloom Park

Site of the Spanish-American War Cannon and Spanish-American War Memorial.

Built in 1900, it is the 3rd oldest Spanish-American War Memorial in the country, behind the ones in Grand Rapids, MI, and Los Angeles, which were completed a few weeks before. The land was donated by Mayor Bloom, who lived across the street. The speaker at the dedication was Henry Kyd Douglas, who lived diagonally across the intersection.
