How We Work

Main Street Hagerstown program follows an approach developed by the National Main street Center.  The Main Street Four Point Approach is a unique preservation-based economic development tool with a comprehensive strategy that is volunteer-driven and designed to address a variety of issues and problems that challenge traditional commercial districts.

PROMOTION: Markets the district’s unique characteristics to shoppers, visitors, new businesses and investors and creates exciting events.

DESIGN: Capitalizes on downtown’s historic buildings and pedestrian-oriented streets to create an inviting downtown atmosphere.

BUSINESS RELATIONS: Strengthens downtown’s existing economic assets while expanding and diversifying its economic base.

ORGANIZATION: Assembles the volunteer resources and develops methods to secure additional funding for Main Street projects.

CLEAN, SAFE & GREEN:  Enhances the sustainability and safety of the downtown.
