Customer & Support Services is responsible for billing and collecting all tax accounts and the collection of utility and various payments submitted to the City. The Customer Service representatives in Treasury provide courteous and efficient customer service to the public to assist with payments and questions.
Functions of this department include preparing all bills for real estate and personal property taxes, as well as then providing a collection service for these taxes. The department also collects utility payments, miscellaneous receivables, miscellaneous fees and parking tickets. The Treasurer’s office also has the responsibility of preparing deposits and bank and general ledger account reconciliations.
Our Customer Service Representatives support customers by phone or in person to assist with new service and other electric, water and sewer service-related questions. Customer Service Representatives also accept payments for water and sewer service permits.
Support Services also accepts payments and issues permits for monthly parking in various City of Hagerstown parking facilities. Disputes for parking tickets are handled by the Parking Division, at 50 W Antietam St (Hub City Garage), or by calling 301-739-8577 x479.
You can now check your account balance and make payments by phone 24/7 for electric, water, personal property tax or real estate taxes with our free automated service. Call 844-451-1585 to pay with Visa, Mastercard, Discover or checking account information.
You can also make a payment free of charge by visiting our online payment portal free of charge. The payment portal accepts even more payment types:
Customers can also continue to make payments in person at Customer Service Center at 32 N Potomac St Suite 100 or by calling 301-790-4160 to speak to a live representative (fee is charged) or via our drop box located beside the drive-up window with a check or money order.
