Cascades Building

Project Overview

Located at 273 E Memorial Boulevard the paper plant opened as First Urban Fiber in October 1996 and at one time employed 100 people before being placed in receivership in 1997. In 2002, Newstech MD LP bought the property. And in 2006, Quebec-based Cascades Tissue Group acquired the plant.

Investments and Jobs

  • This once vacant industrial building of over 236,000 square feet is in the midst of a redevelopment of $15 million dollars that could reach as high as $30 million after a property auction in 2020. 
  • Operational status of the building is expected in quarter 3 of 2021 bringing back nearly 100 jobs to the community as was originally planned in 1996.
