The Ice Cream Shop: Fulfilling a Downtown 'Need'

The City of Hagerstown proudly (and eagerly!) welcomes The Ice Cream Shop to 96 West Washington Street. The community is invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, September 20 at 2pm.

The Ice Cream Shop offers a variety of ice cream desserts including sundaes, shakes, and floats using locally-made ice cream from South Mountain Creamery. Proprietors Melissa and Brian Noel, also owners of The Yarn Shop right next door, decided to open The Ice Cream Shop quite simply because there wasn’t one! The Noels are firmly committed to the vibrancy of Hagerstown’s Main Street District as demonstrated by their two businesses.

“I was sitting in the yarn store one day and realized there was no ice cream shop,” Melissa Noel says. “I ran home and told Brian we needed to open one, and he agreed. We both believe it will be one more incentive for people to visit and enjoy downtown.”
