City Park Fall Fest Awaits This Saturday!

A year after the pandemic altered its traditional format, City Park Fall Fest is back, boasting a jam-packed lineup of family fun!  The traditional celebration of the fusion of arts, entertainment, history, and music takes place this Saturday, September 18 throughout Hagerstown City Park.

The event kicks off with the children’s Monarch Butterfly Parade from the Hagerstown Cultural Trail to the park at 11am. Free activities all day long include pony rides and a petting zoo, rides on Tommy 202, living history demonstrations, arts and crafts activities, balloon benders and more!  Travel by foot or by shuttle bus to visit the four museums of Hagerstown City Park: the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, the Valley Art Association Mansion House, the City Park Train Hub, and the Jonathan Hager House Museum.  Additionally, food and arts and craft vendors will have special items available for purchase.

From 11am - 3pm, Bester Community of Hope presents the 6th Annual South Side Community Block Party. The south side of the park (between the band shell and concession stand) will be filled with community resource vendors and attractions, including a laser tag obstacle course, kids’ activities, and live entertainment.

At noon, the Jonathan Hager House Museum will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for two new trails in Hagerstown City Park. The Founder’s Trail and the Hagerstown Arboretum Trail are located on the north side of the park between Key Street and Walnut Street. Be among the first to enjoy the diverse network of trees and historic resources along the new walking and biking paths. Use the virtual map posted on the trailhead signs to learn about the various species of trees growing in Hagerstown City Park or follow the path around the Hager House highlighted by five unique exhibits featuring photographs from the Jonathan Hager House Museum.

Following the day’s activities, settle in for the final Outdoor Movie of the season at the City Park Band Shell featuring “Shrek” (rated PG). The movie will be shown at dusk with pre-movie entertainment beginning at 6pm.
