Road reopened to traffic through the rest of construction.
The City is pleased to announce that Wesel Blvd. will be reopened to through traffic by Wednesday, November 25th. A portion of the roadway has been closed to traffic since September 21st to allow the contractor (C. William Hetzer, Inc.) to more quickly and safely complete the main portions of their work in that area. The next phase of the project will include the removal and replacement of the existing pavement between Chick-Fil-A and Noland Company; it is anticipated that this work will be completed in the spring of 2021. However, after the road is reopened next week, at least one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained for the duration of the project.
Motorists using Wesel Blvd. are cautioned that they will be driving through an active construction zone, with the contractor continuing to work on the shoulders on either side of the roadway; they should be alert for construction vehicles and equipment. Speed limits of 20 mph will be posted throughout the construction zone.
Emergency vehicles will be able to pass through this section of Wesel Blvd. once it is reopened.
Please contact the Department of Parks & Engineering at 301-739-8577 extension 125 if there are any questions regarding this advisory.
